I’m always looking for ways to increase food security, and I thought that growing some of my own vegetables would be a great way to do that. Unfortunately, when I first decided to grow some of my own food, I lived in a townhouse so didn’t have any room to grow food. On top of that, I don’t have a green thumb, so I thought my dreams of homegrown veggies were dashed. But then I heard about the AeroGarden Sprout and decided to give it a try.

What is an AeroGarden Sprout?

Growing lettuce in an AeroGarden Sprout

The AeroGarden Sprout is an indoor gardening system that is designed to be easy to use for people who don’t have a lot of experience with gardening.

It is the smallest AeroGarden model, and it comes with a pump that helps improve oxygenation, a 10W LED full spectrum grow light, and reminders for when to add plant food. The grow light is adjustable up to 10″ so that you can get the perfect amount of light for your plants. There is also a water-level indicator that lets you know when it’s time to add more water.

It has room for three grow pods, so you can grow up to three plants at a time. The AeroGarden Sprout is suitable for growing herbs, lettuce, and some varieties of cherry tomatoes, and it is backed by a one-year warranty.

If you’re someone who’s looking for an easy, convenient, and inexpensive way to start growing vegetables, the Sprout is an excellent choice. This product makes it easy for people to grow fresh vegetables at home, regardless of whether they have any experience gardening or not. Plus, the AeroGarden Sprout is perfect for apartment dwellers or anyone without space or inclination to grow food outdoors.

Pricing

The retail price of a Sprout is $99.99, however, you can usually get it for less than that, especially if you purchase on Amazon. Go here to see the current AeroGarden Sprout price options on Amazon.

Features

Silent pump that helps improve oxygenation

All AeroGardens have a pump that helps improve oxygenation, which is an important part of growing plants in water.

10W LED full spectrum grow light

The AeroGarden Sprout comes with a 10W LED full spectrum grow light which is an adequate amount of light for the size of plants that grow in this small garden.

Up to 10″ of grow height

Speaking of light, the light on the AeroGarden Sprout can be moved up or down, depending on the stage of growth, and the size of the veggies you’re growing. The maximum height on the Sprout is 10 inches.

Suitable for growing herbs, lettuce and tomatoes

This tiny garden is a great choice for apartment gardeners because it is small, which makes it easy to fit on a countertop. You can grow herbs, lettuce and dwarf varieties of cherry tomatoes.

Here are some varieties of vegetables that I’ve grown successfully in my AeroGarden Sprout:

Water level indicator

The Sprout has a water level indicator that makes it easy to keep the plants well-hydrated. The indicator is a handy feature, because you don’t have to look inside the unit to see if the water is getting low.

Reminders for when to add plant food

The garden also comes with reminders for when to add plant food. This is a helpful feature because it takes the guesswork out of keeping the plants well-fed. You don’t have to worry about remembering to add plant food on a regular basis, because the machine will do it for you.

It has a little light that comes on when you need to add plant food. While the light is small, I find it easy to see from across the room, so I never forget to add plant food.

For the Sprout, you’ll add one capful of nutrients – from the small bottle of nutrients that came with your unit when you purchased it – every 14 days.

First Impressions

I’m always drawn to sleek, modern design. I love the way it looks–clean and minimalist, with a touch of elegance. While the AeroGarden Sprout is very basic, I was impressed by its simple, but elegant design.

In addition to great design, it’s easy to keep clean. The machine is also very small and lightweight, making it easy to move around.

Assembling the garden was amazingly simple, and only took a few minutes. I filled the water reservoir, added the plant food, and then placed the grow pods in the slots. The first time I used it, I chose to grow lettuce, which is what came with the garden that I purchased. (When you buy any AeroGarden, they come with either herbs, lettuce, or tomatoes. The one I purchased came with lettuce.)

Thoughts on Using the AeroGarden Sprout

I’ve been using the Aerogarden Sprout for about five years now, and I’m really happy with it, as long as I stick to vegetables that don’t grow too big.

I was a little hesitant to purchase it at first, because I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the money. But after using it for a while, I can definitely say that it is worth the price.

Here are my overall thoughts on the smallest AeroGarden model:

Easy to use

One of the best features of the Aerogarden Sprout is that it is easy to use. You simply fill up the water reservoir, add plant food when prompted, and then place the grow pods in the slots.

The machine does all of the work for you from there, including reminding you when to add plant food and monitoring the water.

A great way to get started with indoor gardening

This tiny hydroponic garden is a great way to get started with indoor gardening. Since the cost is low, there’s minimal risk with buying a Sprout as your first AeroGarden.

A fun way to introduce kids to growing food

The Sprout is a great way to introduce kids to the joys of growing their own food. If you want to get your kids into gardening, but don’t have a lot of time or space to devote to it, the Sprout is a great option since the use of it requires minimal supervision.

It’s a great way to help your kids learn the joy of growing vegetables, and may even encourage them to eat more veggies!

Minimal features compared to some other AeroGarden models

This garden is a great choice for apartment gardeners because it is small in size, making it easy to fit on a countertop or small ledge. However, it has fewer features than many of the other AeroGarden models, so if you like a lot of bells and whistles, or if you want to grow larger vegetable plants, it may not be the best AeroGarden for you.

My Verdict on the AeroGarden Sprout

The Aerogarden Sprout is a great way to get started with AeroGardens, especially for people who have limited space or money. The cost is low, and it’s easy to use.

I do prefer the larger AeroGarden models such as the AeroGarden Harvest over the Sprout, but I appreciate the fact that I can use the Sprout for items that grow small, which makes it possible for me to reserve my larger AeroGarden models for growing vegetables that grow too large to grow in the Sprout.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use, low-cost way to get into indoor gardening, the Sprout is a great choice. It’s perfect for apartment gardeners or anyone who wants a machine that does most of the work for them. Plus, it’s a fun way to introduce kids to the joys of growing their own food.

If you’re interested in trying out this particular garden model for yourself, be sure to check what’s available on Amazon. They have a choice of different vegetable pods, so you can find one that’s perfect for your needs. Plus, Amazon offers free shipping on orders over $25.
