In this article, I’ll review the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator and tell you what I think about it. I’ll also share some basic thoughts about what I do and don’t like about this dehydrator compared to my Nesco stackable dehydrator (Amazon affiliate link). Keep reading to learn more!

I first heard about the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator more than a year ago. At the time, I was regularly publishing dehydrator videos on my YouTube channel. In those videos, I used my trusty Nesco dehydrator. On a fairly regular basis, people left comments on my dehydrating videos about how much they loved their Cosori dehydrator.

Initially I wasn’t interested in trying the Cosori dehydrator because I was a big fan of my Nesco dehydrator, which I had been using for a few years. But since so many people raved about the Cosori, I decided to look into it. After reading all of the great Amazon reviews on the product, I decided to buy one for myself. I’ve now been using it for more than a year and use both it and my Nesco dehydrator (Amazon) regularly.

Disclosure: I am an Amazon affiliate, and if you decide to purchase the Cosori dehydrator after reading this review, I will earn a commission.

Before I get into my thoughts on using the Cosori dehydrator, I thought I’d share some of the basics regarding the dehydrator, as well as the Cosori company itself.

The Cosori Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator is a high-quality appliance that is made for dehydrating food. This appliance is made with food grade stainless steel and has many features that make it easy to use. The Cosori has a digital control panel, a glass front door, and a temperature range of 95 degrees to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the Cosori dehydrator is very quiet, with a noise level equal to noise level of a typical library. Finally, this appliance is easy to clean and has multiple safety features.

The Cosori brand is based in the United States, but the company sells products all over the world. The Cosori dehydrator is sold primarily in eight countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Japan. Also, while the company is based in the United States, at least some of the manufacturing is done in other countries such as China.

The primary benefit of the Cosori dehydrator is that it reliably dehydrates food. This appliance is made with high-quality materials and since it has a wide range of temperatures, it’s easy to dehydrate various types of foods. Additionally, the Cosori dehydrator is very quiet, so you can use it without disturbing others in your home. Finally, this appliance is easy to clean, which is always a bonus.

Pricing

The retail price of the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator is $159.99 USD. However, the price often fluctuates on Amazon, so it’s worth checking the current price, because it’s often on sale.

Features

Here are the main features of the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator. (Note that there are other Cosori dehydrators on the market that have different features.)

Made with food grade stainless steel

The Cosori Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator is made with food grade stainless steel. This means that the appliance is made with high-quality materials that are safe to use for dehydrating food. The stainless steel construction adds to the durability as well as the attractive design which makes it suitable to leave out on a kitchen countertop.

Glass front door

The Cosori Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator has a glass front door. This allows you to see the food as it dehydrates, which is a useful feature. It’s nice being able to peek at the food as it dehydrates, without opening the door.

Digital control panel

The Cosori dehydrator has a digital control panel. This feature allows you to easily adjust the temperature of the appliance. I like being able to set a very precise temperature on the food I’m dehydrating, and feel that the digital control panel on the Cosori is more precise than the temperature knob on my Nesco. The digital control panel is also easy to use, making it a convenient feature.

Temperature range of 95 degrees to 165 degrees Fahrenheit

The Cosori Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator has a temperature range of 95 degrees to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes it suitable for dehydrating everything from herbs and greens to fruits and vegetables, to meat. I’ve used the Cosori to dehydrate a wide variety of foods, and have never had any issues with it not reaching the desired temperature.

Timer

The Cosori dehydrator has a timer. This timer is useful because it allows you to automatically turn off the appliance after a set amount of time. I like that the timer is adjustable, so I can choose the amount of time I want the dehydrator to run.

While having a timer on a dehydrator is a somewhat handy feature, I have to say that it’s best to go by how the dehydrated food feels to the touch instead of a specific amount of time to determine if food is completely dehydrated. Because of that, the timer is probably the least important feature, but some find it helpful.

Quiet, with noise level equal to noise level of a typical library

The Cosori dehydrator is very quiet, with a noise level equal to noise level of a typical library. This makes it a convenient appliance to use in your home without disturbing others.

Multiple safety features

The Cosori dehydrator has multiple safety features. These include a timer, overheat protection, and auto shut off. Additionally, the tray liners are BPA-free.

Easy to clean

The Cosori dehydrator is a high-quality appliance that is easy to clean. The metal trays are removable and dishwasher safe. You can wash the plastic liners on the top tray of the dishwasher. Just be sure to remove them before the drying cycle begins! I personally just leave my trays to soak in a sink full of hot soapy water and then rinse them off.

You can also use a damp sponge or washcloth to wipe down the interior and exterior of the dehydrator.

First Impressions

I was impressed with the quality construction of the Cosori dehydrator. The appliance is made with high-quality materials, and the stainless steel construction and the glass front door both add to the attractive design.

I also like that the glass front door allows you to see the food as it dehydrates. I prefer this compared to having to unplug and take off the top of the dehydrator when checking food that I’m dehydrating in my Nesco.

The dehydrator is easy to operate. However, since it’s a bit more complex than the Nesco (Amazon), I had to refer to the instruction booklet the first few times I used it.

Thoughts on Using Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator

cosori dehydrator

I’ve been using the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator for over a year now, and have been very happy with it. I love how quiet it is, and how precise the time and temperature functions are.

The cabinet style dehydrators have advantages over stackable dehydrators such as my Nesco (Amazon), but there are also some disadvantages. Cabinet style dehydrators like the Cosori are nice in that you can remove some of the shelves and then use the dehydrator for larger items, including things like making yogurt!

Storage is the biggest downside to the Cosori dehydrator, at least for people like me who live in a small place. If you have room on your kitchen counter for an extra appliance, the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator is beautiful, so it certainly looks nice left out.

However, if you don’t have much room, it is harder to store the Cosori Premium Dehydrator than my Nesco. With the Nesco, I can slide individual trays under my couch and store them out of the way in otherwise wasted space. I’ve ended up sticking my Cosori in a shed in my garage, because I don’t have much cabinet space indoors. As such, I often reach for my Nesco simply because it’s easier for me to get to.

The space issues I mentioned above are true of any cabinet style dehydrator, and not specific to the Cosori.

If you have the room for a cabinet style dehydrator, I definitely recommend the Cosori Premium Stainless Steel Dehydrator for its beauty, durability, and precise temperature and time control. I’ve been very happy with the food I’ve dehydrated with it, and I love how quiet it is to operate. I also love that you don’t need to rotate the trays.

If you think a stackable dehydrator such as the Nesco would be a better fit for you, you can pick one up here, on Amazon.
